April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star from America, is among a select number of women who had medals won in several Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to win her third gold medal together with fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. However, more importantly Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. Though Ross and Klineman have been playing together from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches prior to their team. In fact, she's been a prominent player on the scene of beaches throughout the years. Actually, she has won numerous tournaments, one of which was one that was won by a famous volleyball player. For six years from 2007 to 2013, she worked with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy, Ross won a World Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. They also won the Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team and Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics the year 2016. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the beach as a professional Ross balled out for the Trojans at USC while university. Ross's time in the Trojans was stellar. Her achievements included an All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she came back in the ranks of an All-American. The two years following her, she took the Trojans on a climb and clinched consecutive national titles. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great receiving the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball world. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish the memory of her parent. Margie is an ever-present source of inspiration for her both in and out on the beach.
